Coco Beach
Named after the Reef Coco Beach, Barrier Reef to protect the natural northern most tip of Playa del Carmen.
The neighborhood was developed in the past 2 years with modern and luxurious buildings in front of the white beaches of Playa del Carmen. The neighborhood is very quiet and still has many unbuilt lots, which gives it a more natural look.
Two blocks up north it connects to the famous Fifth Avenue, which continues its course 2 kilometers towards the south.
Mamitas
The northern end of Fifth Avenue called the "New Fifth" taking advantage of the development of the city sprawl in the same way along the sea and the beautiful beaches of Mamitas and Coco Beach ; This is an upscale area with new construction, brick lined streets and a more European flavor.
Downtown
Avenida Quinta "Fith Avenue" is a pedestrian only street running parallel to the beach north from the central plaza. Fifth Avenue is the heart of Playa del Carmens cultural life and is lined with restaurants, shops and hotels.
Playacar Fase I
The Playacar Resort, connected to the southern edge of Playa del Carmen, is an upscale gated community; Playacar Phase I, is the residential beachfront section and is adjacent to the town.
Playacar Fase II
The Playacar Resort, connected to the southern edge of Playa del Carmen, is an upscale gated community; Playacar Phase II is the more recent section and is beautifully landscaped around brick-lined boulevards and the 18 hole Golf Course designed by Robert Von Hage ; Playacar Golf Club is a challenging championship course carved out of the lush Mayan jungle. Playacar has also a lovely aviary, new shopping mall and bike paths.
